William F. Buckely, “the erudite Ivy Leaguer and conservative herald who showered huge and scornful words on liberalism as he observed, abetted and cheered on the right’s post-World War II rise from the fringes to the White House, died Wednesday. He was 82.”(foxnews)
Growing up in a conservative home, I heard his name many times. Oddly enough, it wasn’t until I saw Woody Allens’ “Annie Hall”, that I put some social relevance to the man. In Allen’s film, there is a reference and a name drop to Mr. Buckley when Alvi goes to Annie’s apartment to “kill a spider”. I can’t say whether or not that particular scene was a metaphor for conservative vs. liberal views, but its Woody – anything is possible

I didn’t know the man personally but I did know of his work and did read some of his articles.
From my perspective, he was a good man, who stood up for moral conservatism. I don’t see anythinig wrong with that.
